Features to know about

Built to Tow Serious Weight: 20,000 lbs GTW and 5,000 lbs Vertical Load

This fixed fifth-wheel hitch is rated for 20,000 lbs gross towing weight and 5,000 lbs tongue weight, giving you the strength to pull large fifth wheels with confidence. Its heavy steel construction and gray powder coat finish resist corrosion through miles of towing. When it’s in place, the rail-free design drops directly into the four receiver pucks for a stable mount that feels solid and secure.

Quiet, Secure Connection: 1" Thick Dual Jaws with 360-Degree King Pin Contact

The thick, machined dual jaws wrap completely around the king pin for a snug fit that cuts out rattle and movement. That full 360-degree contact gives you smoother towing and less chucking when hitting bumps or uneven pavement. The polyurethane bushings supporting the head help absorb road vibration for a quieter, steadier ride that keeps stress off both the truck and trailer.

Close-up of B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch dual-jaw mechanism showing the precision-machined two-piece steel jaws that tightly secure the king pin for a quieter, more stable towing connection.

Close-up of B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch polyurethane bushings that cushion the pivoting hitch head for smoother, quieter towing performance with reduced vibration.

Easy Hookup on Any Terrain: Cam-Action Handle Prevents Binding

The cam-action latching handle makes coupling and uncoupling simple even on unlevel ground. It opens cleanly without needing to fight binding pressure between the truck and trailer. When it’s time to release, just move the handle to the open position and pull forward to free the jaws. The handle secures closed with a pin and clip, or you can lock it with a padlock for extra peace of mind.

Adjustable Fit for a Level Trailer: Three Height Settings from 16-3/4" to 18-3/4"

Fine-tune your setup for the right bed rail clearance using three adjustable height settings. The pivot arms can be installed in different positions—forward or back—to dial in cab clearance or balance your load line. That adjustability helps you achieve a level trailer and confident handling when you’re running heavy down the highway.

Quick Removal When You Need Your Bed Back: Two-Piece Modular Design

When it’s time to haul something other than your fifth wheel, this hitch separates into manageable pieces so you can clear your bed fast. The head lifts off easily from the pivot arms, then you can unlock the base from the pucks by rotating the handles outward and pulling the hitch free. It’s sturdy when installed but simple to remove without special tools or equipment.

I have not towed with the hitch as we have not purchased a fifth wheel RV at the time of me writing this. I want to be ready when we do find a trailer. I have a 2021 Chevrolet 3500HD with the factory puck system. This hitch fits like a glove and appears to be very well constructed. Installation was simple and straight forward. I will very likely consider other products from B&W based on this one. I love the fact that it is made in the USA!

It has been slightly over a year and we have been towing our new 2021 Grand Design Reflection purchased May 2021 303RLS with this hitch. I am very happy with its preformance and ease of use. I would recommend this hitch.

Order arrived 2 days early, I love etrailer always have what you need

After buying a 2021 Silverado 2500, we decided to purchase a new hitch to replace the sliding Reese hitch we have used for the past 10 years. Our truck has a 6'9" standard bed. With the rounded front caps on newer 5th wheels, we decided we could use a fixed mount hitch instead of a slider. After reading reviews online, we purchased the B&W Companion Hitch with the puck system. It was quick to assemble, and with the ability to separate the plate assembly from the base it is easy to take in and out of the truck. This hitch also allowed the option to set it up so the trailer pin sits 2" behind the back axle. Every trailer is different, but this feature allows us to jackknife our trailer to 90 degrees with 1" clearance from the back of the cab. The hitch has three different height settings and we chose the middle setting. This gave us 7 1/4" clearance between the trailer overhang and the truck bed sides. Once we added our Tonneau Cover rails we still had 6" of clearance. Hooking up to this hitch is a great deal easier than our previous Reese hitch. It also pulled much smoother and quieter with the dual jaw configuration. Additionally, the smaller footprint in the bed of the truck should allow us more cargo room if needed. We are very happy with this purchase and expect to use this hitch for many years. Buying through etrailer was a positive experience. Besides having the best price and free shipping, we relied on their sales team to answer our many questions and help choose the right hitch for us. Once we placed our order, we had our hitch in 2 days.

After using this hitch for the past year, we are still very happy with our purchase. The hitch has been trouble free, easy to put in and pull out of the truck bed, easy to hook up to our camper and it pulls great. Having used different hitches over the years, this is the one I would recommend.

by:

Package arrived on time, directions were clear, all parts were in the two boxes. Fit my 2026 GMC sierra 3500HD OEM puck system perfectly.

by:

I accidentally ordered the wrong hitch. The folks at Etrailer quickly found me the right hitch and return lables. We got the new hitch within the week and a refund is on the way.

B&W fifth wheel hitch was easy to put together and install in my 2025 3500HD Chevy Silverado Hitch is made heavy and sturdy ( USA product) Won’t be pulling my fifth wheel until next year but I am not worried about this hitch. Buy this hitch!!

The fifth wheel hitch is working good. Had to make an extension bar 38 rod to reach the arm because you can’t reach the arm when you have a Dually truck. It should have some kind of extension tool for the dually truck. What I made works great

by:

Easy to order, very helpful personal, ahead of time delivery and most of all high quality and ease of installation. I can’t stress to much how knowledgeable they are at ETrailer This is our second 5th wheel hitch and we did the installation.

by:

It was easy to install. I have only hauled with it once and am very happy with the 5th wheel hitch. Absolutely no chucking.

by:

This is our second B&W hitch. We had one in a Ford. Traded trucks to a Chevy - needed hitch with puck system. Installation on both was simple. We were very pleased with first B&W hitch. We are confident we will be very happy with this one as well. We will put the new hitch to the test this weekend as we are closing out the camping season with our last trip of the year.

by:

Like most say the packaging could be better. But it came without any scratches and looks awesome. Didn’t take long to install. Directions were easy. Can’t wait to try it out! As always, eTrailer rocks. Will continue to purchase from them.

Been using this for a year now. Looks as good as the day I installed it. Could not be happier. It is fantastic. Have not had one issue. Don’t buy anything else. I have a 2024 Chevy 2500, standard box, towing a Grand Design Reflection 295RL. No issues with turn radius and I have been in some pretty tight spots! No need for a slider hitch.

by:

Very well built with a nice finish. This is my second B&W 5th Wheel Hitch, previously had a B&W 5th wheel rail mount w/slider being my truck had a 6 1/2 foot box. Was very happy with the quality and design of that so upgraded to a puck system design for a newer truck. Ordering and delivery from etrailer was quick and it was a very easy installation.

by:

It arrived on time and in good shape. Very easy to assemble and fairly light weight. I am 70 years old and have no trouble lifting it in and out of my truck; being able to separate the base from the hitch. I pulled my new fifth wheel home yesterday and hardly any chugging. I am very impressed with this Companion 3710.

by:

The B&W saves us over 100lbs. and approx. 1ft. of space on each side of the hitch. Haven't travelled any real distance yet; however, our cross country trip will surely put it thru it's paces.

by:

The hitch was easy to install. We haven’t had a chance to pull our camper anywhere yet - but did connect it to the hitch and all worked as it should.

Hitch is great. Easy to use. Easy to handle when putting it in truck and removing it.

by:

I was shocked when my old hitch didn’t work. After a chat with etrailer we came up with the right size. I will be giving a true test next week. My preliminary hook up to my trailer worked great. Next road test coming up for both hitch and my 2026 Chevy diesel 2500.

by:

Great i love the hitch!!! But the the shipping was not the greatest box was a little rough and there was a few fasteners in the box. I got lucky they did not fall out of the box. Fasteners for the locking handle. The base has a few paint chips and i do see some surface rust forming bummer brand new hitch spends its life under a cover and i a garage

by:

This is a top notch, very well built hitch. Dropped right in to my oem puck system on a 2024 Chev 2500 hd. The first hookup was so smooth that I wasn’t sure I was even on my kingpin.
E trailer had it delivered the next day from ordering!! The other important thing to note is this hitch takes up a 17” x 30” footprint which is way smaller than an Andersen base.

Still works like new, I’ve trailered about 3500 miles in a year and I have no regrets with the hitch. I have an overhead electric hoist so I purchased a lifting eye adapter to simply lock into the jaws, turn the four hitch locking handles and lift the entire hitch out of the truck when needed. Great design B&W!

@Dave That is awesome to hear Dave! That lifting eye is such a beneficial attachment, people don't realize the weight of that hitch. Cheers to 3500 more miles!

I am glad to see you discovered the best Thomas! If B&W is available, I choose them every time! Have you been able to get out on your first trip? Where did you go, or where are you going?

by:

The product quality is excellent, and the overall purchasing experience was equally impressive. The ordering process was smooth, and shipping was extremely fast. My order was processed and on its way within just a couple of hours.

The hitch arrives in two separate packages, one for the base and one for the hitch assembly. Everything was well packaged and organized.

Installation was straightforward and easy to complete on my own. I was able to install the hitch in approximately 20 minutes. The most time consuming part was configuring the components to match my specific setup.

For reference, I installed this on a 2026 Chevy 3500HD single rear wheel with a long bed and factory puck system. The setup was direct and required no modifications. I selected the 20K hitch, which aligns with the truck’s rated capacity. I initially set it to the mid height position. Adjusting the height later appears to be a quick process that should take no more than 10 minutes.

Overall, this is a solid and well built option for a fifth wheel hitch. It offers a combination of durability, ease of installation, and a streamlined purchasing experience.

In terms of weight and handling, it is manageable for one person. I expected it to be heavier, but the design makes it practical to move when needed. The hitch consists of two main components, the base and the hitch head. Moving it simply requires removing the top section, which is very easy and does not require any tools, as it is secured with pins. The base can then be removed from the puck system just as easily. While it does have some weight to it, breaking it down into these components makes it realistic to handle alone.

by:

Very easy assembly after you figure out height. I have a 2020 GMC Denali 3500 Dually, and went with the highest height. My slide tonneau cover still slides perfect with no contact. Great solid product!

Great hitch, great service! Shipped quick. Super simple install. This is the 2nd B&W hitch we purchased from etrailer.com both times the customer service was exemplary.
This was installed in a Silverado 3500 dually at the lowest and forward setting to mate to a curt rotoflex pin box at its lowest setting. Have 7 inches of clearance from the bed box. It locks in solid and pulls great. No crazy creaking or chucking. The redundant safety pins just build more confidence that our trailer is secure. Thank you Lauren for being awesome.

Lauren and B and W are both pretty great! I'll make sure she sees your review :) Also super glad to hear that install and performance are up to par. What kind of 5th wheel are you towing?

by:

Love how this comes apart making it EASY to remove from truck bed and re-install. Easy to assemble with standard hand tools and torque wrench. When the snow clears here in Montana I will THEN hookup the 5th wheel to the hitch. By the end of camping season 2025 I will return to provide an update.
Photos show one box (hitch head) that UPS delivered promptly without damage. The other box (hitch base) UPS took on a tour of the east coast and as a result was loaded and off-loaded from many many more trucks. The boxes aren't designed for that. Result was a torn-up box that UPS tried to keep together with tape. Fortunately, the contents were 'contained' within the box, and nothing was damaged as a result. That issue is not a B&W nor an eTrailer fault in my opinion.

This B&W hitch worked beautifully! Summer of 2025 we hauled our Grand Design 5th wheel over 10,000 miles. The hitch is awesome and we are HAPPY CAMPERS! Thanks etrailer and B&W!

by:

Purchased the B&W Companion to swap out a PullRite Autoslide in my 2024 Chevy 3500HD. We are pulling a Grand Design Reflections 337 and the prior truck had ISR rails installed, I was told I "must have" a sliding hitch for a standard bed. This just proved for my use it was not needed. Now, the hitch. Like many have indicated the box arrived pretty beat up but the hitch parts were not damaged and all parts intact. The set up was fairly easy, I decided to go to the highest level tilted back which for me works out great. If that did not work out I can adjust it easy enough. I installed and took it for a test run about 20 miles before doing any real traveling just in case I needed modification. Connection was easy, and the level locked in and pinned close. Pulling was quiet, no slamming of metal on metal that I previously heard. I checked the clearances as I made some turns and plenty of room to move, I could easily move it to the more upright position if I wanted. I am not doing 90 degree turns and a 45 degree turn has plenty of room to go. The camper is fairly level when connected, maybe a 1/4 bubble high in the front. The unit is heavy and solid without being outrageously heavy, in 2 parts I can move it myself in and out by myself. Etrailer as usual did well with pricing and getting it out the door, they have been my go to site.

We have been using this hitch for the past year and absolutely awesome. Easily put in and out of the truck, connecting to the camper is easy and locks in solid, towing is smooth with no noise coming from the hitch slapping around. Maintenance is easy, a little lithium grease each use and a squirt of red and tacky into a zerks once a year or so. I put at least 5k miles on it this past year. Highly recommended.

  • Is The Placement OF GM's OEM Puck System Supposed To Sit Behind The Axle
Hey Jerry, GM moved the placement of their puck systems starting with 2020 models so you are correct that the pucks would have the hitch not sit directly over the axle. GM did the math and made sure that this placement wouldn't adversely affect your towing ability so it's totally fine as is. Moving the weight towards the front of the truck helps distribute the weight between the the front and rear axles, whereas being behind the rear axle and closer to the tailgate will place more weight...

You could use the B and W Companion Fixed Hitch for GM rail kit part # BWRVK3715 and you'd have the best fifth wheel hitch available for your truck as it's very easy to use, reliable, and also made in the USA.

From what you described, it sounds like they were trying to sell you a gooseneck-style setup, but with a MORryde Rubber Pin Box, you definitely need a true fifth wheel hitch, not a ball-style hitch. It...

  • Will B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch BWRVK3710 Fit 2026 Chevy 2500 Crew Cab With 6.75' Bed?
Hey Steve, thanks for reaching out. Yes, you are on the right track. The B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3710 is the correct fit for your 2026 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the factory 4 puck prep package. This is the fixed, non slider version that drops directly into the OEM puck system, so there is no need for additional rails or adapters. It is commonly recommended for long bed trucks, but your 6.75' standard bed is also compatible. In most cases, a slider is not required with...

  • Will B&W Companion from 2021 Ram Truck Fit a 2025 Chevy Silverado 2500 with Pucks
Hey Larry, thanks for reaching out! The puck locations for a 2021 Ram truck will be different than a 2025 Chevy 2500 so we need to either swap out the base or get you a whole new Companion. To replace the base that fits with your Chevy puck system you need part # BWRVB3710 for a 20K base, or the part # BWRVB3715 for a 25K base. Be sure to get the base that matches your current Companion weight rating since you're limited by your least rated component. If you'd rather go with a whole...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch for 2023 GMC Sierra 2500 Towing 2018 Forest River Arctic Wolf With Rotating Pin Box
Hey Chad! The MORryde pin box on your 2018 Forest River Arctic Wolf is a rotating pin box so you do not need a sliding 5th wheel hitch. I recommend using the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3710. The Companion will fit the OEM puck system in your truck and the pin box will give you the clearance you need when turning. B&W makes really great products and offers great support, and the Companion is one of the best hitches on the market. Overall...

  • Can 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500HD Short Bed Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer with Tapered Nose
Hey Doug, you did you homework and I have good news! Yes you can use the fixed hitch version of the B and W Companion part # BWRVK3710 with your 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD because your trailer has a tapered nose which was designed basically for short bed turning clearance.

  • How to Determine the Correct Position for B&W Pivot Arms
Galen, I'm actually not sure how you'd calculate that by using the base plate height and the truck bed. To find out the horizontal position of the pivot arms you are supposed to measure the distance between the center axle and the bumper, and the king pin to the body of the 5th wheel. If the difference is 16"- 24" then you can place the pivot arms in the "over axle" position. If it's less than 16", then you can place the arms behind the axle. Finally, if it's more than 24", then you can...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2025 GMC Sierra 2500 with OEM Pucks
Hey Theodore, the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3710 that you referenced will be a great hitch to use with your 2026 Alliance 25RL and the OEM pucks of your 2025 GMC Sierra 2500. This is widely considered to be the best hitch around so you'll really like it. The fact that it is rated a lot higher than you need would not be an issue either. It would work just as well and be just as quiet and smooth as if the trailer was heavier. Looks like you already bought the hitch though so you...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD with OEM Pucks
Hey Steven, you can't go wrong with the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3710. It fits directly to the OEM pucks of your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 and will give you what most consider to be the best hitch around due to how well it's made, how easy it is to use, and how queit/smooth it is. You didn't mention how long your truck bed is or which Cougar you have so if you could get back to me with that info it would be helpful.

  • Can Base of Companion Hitch be Rotated to get Same Offset Advantage As Moving Arms
Hey Michael, that is a really clever question that I am surprised I've never seen before or thought of! Yes you can rotate just the base of the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3710 and then install the head back onto it and you'd have the same offset advantage as removing the arms and moving them around like you asked about. For most people it's just best to use it in the rear most offset position so I would would assemble it like that and probably just keep it like that.
